Built in the 1930’s by esteemed architect Wallace Frost, the home was meant to depict the classic style of 17th-century Italian villas. Upon entry, you are greeted by rustic stone walls that run throughout the entire house. Wood beamed ceilings in the living spaces combined with custom built-ins and stone fireplaces that bring a warm and thoughtful feel. The sprawling kitchen features marble waterfall countertops, top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances, a wine refrigerator, and a spacious pantry. Off of the kitchen is a formal dining room with a view of the lush landscaping outside.

You will also find a large breakfast nook that features a large arched window with ocean and garden views. The master bedroom is stylish and cozy with a corner stone fireplace, wooden beams, and stone walls. French doors lead to panoramic ocean and island views with a short walk to the pool and the vine-covered pergola. The master bathroom contains leather cabinets, a large walk-in shower, and another fireplace. Outside, the backyard is lush with stunning ocean views, an antique Italian column dating back to 200BC, and an immaculately landscaped garden. There is also a picturesque alfresco dining area under mature olive trees alongside a fountain, fire pit, and pergola.

A long driveway takes you to the property’s entertainment facility, Jordan Hall, that mimics the design of the main house with a modern flair. Here, you will find sleek light fixtures, a unique stone bar, and a vintage apothecary chest with glass display cases. The area has plenty of room for entertaining, including a private courtyard with mountain views, a screened-in sunroom with ocean views, and a spacious lap pool.

The home was built into the property in such a way that the two seem as though they have always been there together. DeGeneres said herself that “it is a home that honors nature”. The entire property is covered with perfectly executed details and finishes and it exudes a sense of peacefulness throughout that can be hard to find.
