Lori Morris’s custom-designed homes have extravagant, creative designs yielding some of the most beautiful homes in North America. Morris’s latest design project is White Heat: an eclectic, sophisticated home in a gated waterfront community in Florida. It is sleekly crafted with one-of-a-kind features that make it a standout property from the renowned interior designer.

White Heat is a palatial 11,000-square-foot home with a straightforward yet dramatic black-and-white color palette accentuating the home’s unique features, along with various textures that evoke feelings of warmth and comfort. Metal and jewel tones added to the home’s decor and colorful artwork create a modern feel.

“The inspiration was to create a sexy vibe inspired by the classicism of black and white,” explained Morris. “The client wanted a white background palette to give that sexy Miami feel to enhance both the artwork and the outdoor views of the water and the serenity of the palm trees.”

White Heat was designed with a specific goal in mind: to create a dream home for the family of six that commissioned Morris’s services. The family-oriented nature of the home played a significant role in Morris’s approach to the design. While she still wanted the home to be sleek and sophisticated, she also wanted to create a comfortable space where the family could relax.

“It is very simple; the family home must function for the family. Once it functions for the family, the aesthetic is just what appeals to the owners,” said Morris. “And therefore, in our no rules philosophy, one can have the genre of the design in any application that they want as long as the home is functioning for how the family lives.”

Every room of the home has been thoughtfully considered, with elegant, sophisticated designs throughout. The front foyer is a multi-story space with a stunning Murano glass and gold cascading light fixture that draws the room together. This room leads into the chic living area, where black velvet channel wall panels and a curved white leather sofa provide comfort and contrast.

The family room shows off exactly what Morris strives for, fusing both a chic Miami vibe and a comfortable, family-friendly feel. It includes a cozy built-in daybed with matching charcoal wall panels and a large window offering scenic property views. It is the ideal place for cozy family movie nights.

Also, White Heat includes a home office space that Morris has designed specifically to motivate new owners.

“Motivating design is strong, sexy, and vibrant. In this project, the dark office vibe contrasts the stark white of the rest of the house which puts you in a motivating mood to be dominant,” says Morris.

The primary suite deviates slightly from the home’s black-and-white palette. While it has a white upholstered headboard, the room uses gold dripping wallpaper as well as nudes, creams, and pale pink accents to create a tranquil, relaxed feel. The room’s en-suite is a spa-worthy space, comprising a walk-in steam shower, a custom double vanity, and a private make-up area, all in the dramatic palette and sleek lines that define White Heat.

White Heat marks another triumph from Lori Morris Design (LMD). It is eclectic and sophisticated, with a black-and-white palette accentuated by bursts of color. Morris explains how this project contrasted with the majority of her other designs.

“A lot of the LMD aesthetic is to have several layers of design. The layers include architectural interior details, layers of moldings, and intricate textures to marry the ornate and eclecticism of our color palette. In this project, we did a much slicker modern sexy vibe.”

While the home’s stylishness takes center stage, Morris ensured that it would be a comfortable, homey place for the family of six for which it was designed.
