Oregon is home to some of the top lakes and rivers in the U.S., ranging from massive rushing rivers that stretch across the Northwest to scenic mountain lakes. People flock to these rivers and lakes to enjoy recreational fun and beat the Oregon summer heat. Let’s look at some of Oregon’s most incredible lakes and rivers worth visiting this summer.

Crater Lake

Crater Lake, the country’s deepest lake, is a glacier-fed lake in Crater Lake National Park. Widely considered one of the cleanest lakes on Earth, it is known for its purity and deep blue color. Although it is not ideal for swimming due to its cold water, it is an exceptionally beautiful natural site to see. Also, the surrounding park has incredible trails along the water.

The Willamette River is another tributary of the Columbia River. It is an iconic part of Oregon’s geography, carving out the Willamette Valley, where many of the state’s biggest cities are located. The Willamette River, with incredible waterfalls and nearby trails, runs from just above Portland to Eugene. The river’s relatively calm water makes it a popular spot for swimming and boating.
