Embrace This Year’s National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C.

From Wednesday, March 20th, to Sunday, April 14th, the National Cherry Blossom Festival will enchant Washington, D.C., and the surrounding areas of Virginia and Maryland. Flower and garden enthusiasts can anticipate an exceptional lineup of seasonal events, perfect for bidding farewell to winter and welcoming spring.

The fun begins with Petal Porches. Residents of various neighborhoods in D.C., Northern Virginia, and Maryland get into the spirit by adorning their porches, yards, and homes with blossoms and pink decorations. Register to participate in the friendly competition for a chance to win prizes, including a pop-up party for the Best Blossom Block.

The Opening Ceremony, a free event on March 23rd, pays tribute to the ongoing friendship between the U.S. and Japan. This ceremony will showcase multiple arts performances by artists with connections to both nations.

Petalpalooza, the Blossom Kite Festival, and Sakura Taiko Fest are among other enjoyable free festival activities. All ages can revel in Petalpalooza’s exciting offerings, including live music, art installations, hands-on activities, a choreographed fireworks show, and more. Taking place at the Washington Monument Grounds, the Blossom Kite Festival will feature live music, performances, competitions, and demonstrations. And at the Sylvan Theater, attendees will be treated to a full day of taiko performances.

Other events require tickets for admission. These include the opulent Pink Tie Party on March 15th, the dynamic Sakura Matsuri-Japanese Street Festival on April 13th and 14th, and the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade on April 13th – an exciting final parade featuring marching bands, vibrant floats and balloons, and celebrity appearances.
