The Appeal of Living in Northern New Jersey

The northern region of New Jersey has a lot to offer residents. North New Jersey has a diverse geography, beautiful cities and towns, and tons of excellent real estate options. Let’s look at some aspects that make up this region’s appeal.

Major Urban Hubs

Most of New Jersey’s largest cities are located in North New Jersey. North New Jersey is partially defined by its proximity to New York City, the country’s most densely populated urban sprawl. Many North New Jersey residents commute to New York for work, so if you prefer the city lifestyle, this region is for you.

The three biggest cities in the northern region and all of New Jersey, Newark, Jersey City, and Paterson, are all busy, bustling cities that are the centers of the state’s culture and economy. While this contributes to making North Jersey more expensive than the south, all the benefits of living in a big city make those costs worth it.

Delicious Food Scene

One distinguishing factor that makes North Jersey a hotspot is the incredible food you are sure to find. There are more than 25,000 restaurants in the Garden State, and much of those are concentrated in the state’s northern region, where most of the state’s population resides. These restaurants have cuisines ranging from international flavors to local classics, with high-quality options a sure thing.

One of the standout parts of North Jersey’s food scene is the unmatched Italian options. North Jersey has a pronounced Italian population and has a long legacy of preparing some of the most delicious Italian food in the country. Natural Scenery

While North Jersey is best known for its dense urban environment, North Jersey is also an appealing destination for outdoor enthusiasts, with many beautiful, scenic areas residents can explore. North Jersey may not be as beachy and coastal as other parts of the state, but it does have gorgeous flowing rivers and waterfalls, along with densely forested rolling hills.

There are several standout areas in North Jersey for those that want to take in incredible natural surroundings. The Skylands Region is one of the most scenic in the state, High Point State Park is an excellent area for hiking or fishing, and Great Falls is a waterfall on the Passaic River nearly 80 feet high.

Economic Opportunity

We’ve mentioned that North Jersey is significantly more expensive than the South or Central regions. One of the major contributors to higher prices in the area is the increased economic opportunities that residents in the northern region can enjoy. Because there are bigger cities, there are more jobs in more diverse fields. The proximity to New York City also greatly impacts residents’ access to high-paying jobs.

There are tons of important economic components of North Jersey, but the most significant may be Exchange Place in Jersey City. This area is home to a huge number of financial companies, including the Goldman Sachs Tower, which is why it has come to be called Wall Street West. North Jersey also headquarters some important companies like Cognizant, Panasonic, and Prudent Financial.
