Detroit is a bustling city with a strong local culture. It hosts many exciting events and festivals that unite the community throughout the year. However, there may not be any festival better than Dally in the Alley, also known as the Dally. Dally in the Alley is a massive community event featuring food, music, performances, and art, and it is the largest annual community festival in Detroit. This year marks a much-anticipated return for a festival that is a pivotal part of Detroit’s culture.

The Dally hasn’t had a full festival since 2019, as the pandemic made large-scale outdoor gatherings difficult. However, 2022 is a full go, with a lineup of musicians, food vendors, and special performances. The festival will be on September 10th and take place from 11 am to 11 pm, for 12 straight hours of non-stop fun.

The festival is located in the Cass Corridor district, a historic area where the Dodge brothers first launched their car company. The festival has been running in its current format for 45 years and is an event completely run by the North Cass Community Union. It is an event that draws major crowds of Detroit residents and visitors from across the state and country for a celebration.

The festival has a lot of entertainment options, including an array of musicians. The event has five stages: the Garden Stage, Forest Stage, Alley Stage, and West and East Beer Garden Stages. Each of these has a lineup of talented performers set to wow audiences, including a number of local bands in genres from rock and jazz to soul and pop.

Many come to enjoy the music and dancing, but another great reason to attend Dally in the Alley is to shop. You’ll find many great options to purchase depending on your preferences. An array of artists and artisans will showcase things like new clothing, crafts, jewelry, and more.

The food at the Dally is also to die for. Detroit is known for its food, and this festival brings together some of Detroit’s top food vendors to serve local festival-style offerings. This year’s food vendors have already been announced, including a lineup of local and international flavors.

There will be ten different food vendors at the event, offering items that range from Detroit-style pizza to empanadas and pierogies. There will be a lot of delicious snacks, meals, and treats as well. Dally in the Alley is a major community celebration, meaning drinks are a must. On that end, there is a ton to be found here. Dally in the Alley has a huge beer garden offering local lagers, cocktails, and other beverages to those that want to enjoy a day of non-stop festivity.

One of the best parts about Dally in the Alley is that the money from the event goes to the local community. Proceeds from the event support North Cass projects designed to uplift the community, such as scholarships for local students and roaming neighborhood security meant to and make the area a safer place.

It will be a celebration of the Detroit community and a welcome return for a communal experience that brings the city closer together.
