Top DC Projects Completed in 2018

Last year, D.C. saw the completion of several major projects, including: apartment towers, office buildings and a soccer field, with more developments scheduled to be completed by 2019. We take a look back at some of the top DC projects completed in 2018.

Midtown Center

In September, Carr Properties welcomed the newly completed Midtown Center, located in the heart of D.C. Carr Properties.

The building functions as a 14-story mixed-use retail, office, and dining development that spreads out over 1,000,000 sf.

The luxury property was built with unique features that encompass environmental aspects such as: a contorting copper-and-glass exterior that’s intended to fade to a green shade because of the oxidation that occurs over a long period of time and three large sky bridges.

The copper exterior serves a functional purpose as well by reducing internal glare and solar heat as they’re positioned to face the sun.

Capitol Riverfront’s 99 M

Developed by Skansa, 99M functions as an office building on the corner of First and M Streets.

The ground floor contains 10,688 sq. ft. of retail space, with shops like Circa and Bluestone Lane already signing leases.

The entirety of the office space covers 220,000 sf and is in a prime location, one block from the Navy Yard Station on Metro’s Green Line.

Some of it’s incredible amenities include: a 4,750 sf rooftop terrace with catering, a fitness center with towel service and a bike room that can fit up to 50 bikes.

The floorplan is designed in a way that both traditional and creative workspaces can function within the same vicinity.

Lydian 400K Apartments

These two brand new 14-story apartment buildings offer a variety of luxury amenities and comfortable furnishings.

Built by architect, Davis Carter Scott, the total cost of the building is $72,500,000. Located in Mount Vernon triangle, the building contains 324 apartment residences, 13,400 sf of retail space and three levels of garage parking.

Some amazing features include: custom fountains, a spacious pool, green roofs, a dog spa, and outdoor seating near grills, fireplaces and fire pits.

Other luxurious amenities are: floor-to-ceiling windows, state-of-the-art kitchens with quartz countertops, customizable closet systems and private balconies.

Chapman Stables

Situated in Truxton Circle, this condominium complex includes 114 condo units with a range of modern features.

Residences feature: 13 two-story units, 14 units with private terraces, including eight with views of the Capitol and five units with private balconies.

Originally built between 1906 and 1916, Chapman Stables has a rich history. At the time, the building was used as a coal yard, stable and garage before eventually turning into a warehouse.

Chapman Stables is situated in a great location and surrounded by popular spots like Big Bear Cafe, Union Kitchen Grocery and the metro.

Other incredible amenities include: a private central courtyard, a rooftop pavilion, and a landscaped terrace with a grill and views of the Capitol.

Audi Field

One of the largest projects in DC completed in 2018, is the brand-new Audi Field, which cost $500 million to construct.

With funding from the D.C. government, United was able to receive the completely new 20,000-seat stadium, which opened on July 14.

Located on the peninsula, the soccer field is surrounded by Potomac and Anacostia Rivers.

Built for the D.C. United soccer team, the new field, located in Buzzard Point, was years in the works after the team was losing money from a lease agreement that wasn’t going well.
