The Sony Open in Hawaii is Back for Another Thrilling January Golf Showcase

Waialae-Kahala, Honolulu, HI

Hawaii remains a top destination for golf enthusiasts, celebrated for its breathtaking natural landscapes and year-round warm weather. The PGA Tour recognizes this allure, hosting major tournaments in the Aloha State every year. Among the most prestigious is the Sony Open in Hawaii, a highlight of the golfing calendar, set to welcome top golfers from around the globe for an unforgettable event.

The Sony Open in Hawaii takes place each year at the Waialae Country Club in Honolulu. This picturesque setting, framed by the Hawaiian coast, provides the perfect backdrop for intense competition as professionals compete for a winner’s share of the cash prize, which totaled $8.3 million last year. This year’s tournament will run from January 6th to January 12th as the second PGA Tour event of the season, following The Sentry.

Since its debut in 1965 as the Hawaiian Open, the Sony Open has become a cornerstone of the PGA Tour. Played exclusively at Waialae—a historic course designed in 1927 by renowned architect Seth Raynor—it offers stunning views of the Hawaiian coastline paired with world-class greens. Over nearly six decades, this tournament has attracted legendary talents, with past champions including Justin Thomas, Cameron Smith, Hideki Matsuyama, and Si Woo Kim. Now a global television spectacle, the Sony Open is not just a major PGA event but also a vital showcase of golf in the Pacific.

Golf fans can anticipate another thrilling year at the Sony Open. While the final list of participants is yet to be announced, the tournament typically features over 140 professional golfers, including marquee names. The late Grayson Murray secured a memorable victory at the 2024 Sony Open, triumphing over competitors like Will Zalatoris, Hideki Matsuyama, Matt Fitzpatrick, and others.

Aside from the competition, the tournament offers an array of fan experiences. Highlights include the Sweet 16 Chalet, a premium hospitality area at the 16th hole. Guests here can savor gourmet dining, enjoy unparalleled ocean views, and take in the action on one of Waialae’s signature holes. Elsewhere on the course, seating areas and concessions will ensure fans stay comfortable and well-fed as they soak in the atmosphere.

Tickets are now available online, offering flexible options for attendees. Full tournament passes are priced at $100, while daily passes are available for $40. For those seeking a premium experience, Sweet 16 Chalet tickets start at $265.
