The 2022 Calgary Stampede marks a return to normalcy for this massive festival. In 2020, the event was canceled for the first time in nearly a century. In 2021, the event was dramatically impacted by public health rules that changed it from the festival Albertans know and love. But in 2022, we are set to see the Calgary Stampede return to full force in what will surely be a spectacle for the ages, drawing in over a million attendees from across Canada and the world.

The Stampede will take place from July 8th-17th and have all the exciting features the event has come to be known for. There will be wild rodeos, incredible nighttime shows from top performers, parades, exhibitions, and exciting parties. The city of Calgary goes all out for this event, with incredible decorations, delicious barbecue food, and cowboy outfits. It is a defining event for the city, and 2022 will be a welcome return.

Tickets are on sale now for several of the key parts of the festival. There are daily rodeos throughout the event, starting at 10:30 am and running into the afternoon. Tickets will typically range from $25 up to around $315. Spectators will watch up close as the brave riders try and stay atop bucking broncos and bulls. The atmosphere is exuberant, and it is one of the best-known rodeos on the planet.

Tickets are also available for the evening show. This nightly event includes the Cowboys Rangeland Derby and the Bell Grandstand Show. The Rangeland Derby is a Chuckwagon race that is a thunderous occasion that will get attendees out of their seats, and the Bell Grandstand Show is a famed spectacle of music, acrobatics, stunts, and pyrotechnics. Tickets for the evening show range from $50 to $140.

While these are the primary official events of the stampede, this occasion extends far beyond the rodeos and the night shows. Multiple concert venues will feature massive names in music, including the primary headliner, country music star Blake Shelton. There will be acts ranging from EDM to hip-hop across several venues, although country music will be the most prominent genre, true to the festival’s roots.

The Calgary Stampede will also have a large Midway to provide a classic fairground experience. There will be heart-stopping rides and exciting arcade games with a wild but family-friendly feel. The food will also be to die for. There will be classic carnival fare ranging from hot dogs and ice cream to deep fried foods and burgers, with some inventive twists on old classics.

Across Stampede Park, there will be countless other events that capture the spirit of this great event. There is a significant First Nations presence at this event, including the Elbow River Camp, an area created by the five nations of the Treaty 7. There will also be an exciting pow-wow this year. To kick the festival off, the iconic Calgary Stampede Parade will take to the streets with flashy floats and unique displays of horsemanship.

After two years of disruption, the city of Calgary will get to enjoy a normal Calgary Stampede in 2022. This will be a one-of-a-kind, exciting occasion of a historical event that has been held in various forms since the 1800s. The Calgary Stampede is a defining part of the city’s identity. With great concerts, wild parties, delicious foods, thrilling carnivals, and of course, incredible rodeos and shows, there is so much to see. It is an iconic Alberta event that will make a major return to form in 2022.
