Every region of the United States has a different food culture and reputation. New England is known for its delicious seafood, Texas stands out for its barbecue, and the Midwest is known for classic American food, such as cornbread, cheese and breads. For those seeking classic Midwestern food, Wisconsin is a particularly good spot to go. It is the heart of America’s dairy industry and is famed for its fresh and delicious foods. Every year, people can experience Wisconsin’s specialties at the Taste of Madison festival.

Taste of Madison will be a complimentary event occurring over Labor Day weekend on September 3rd and 4th. It will be in Madison, Wisconsin’s cosmopolitan state capital. Madison has an international food scene with many fresh farm-to-table options and highly regarded farmer’s markets. It has talented chefs and trendy restaurants, and the Taste of Madison event is a great opportunity to enjoy Madison’s wide variety of food options.

Taste of Madison will celebrate its 40th anniversary this year, combining food, drink, entertainment and a festive atmosphere. It will feature over 75 food vendors encompassing an enormous range of cuisines, along with many beverage options. The Curd Grill will be offering a deep-fried twist on a Wisconsin classic: cheese curds. Also, Ribmasters Wisconsin will offer delicious barbecue ribs and pulled pork. Roll Play will have fusion Chinese food, including the Jiang Biang Chinese Crepes, and Pancho’s Tacos offers chimichangas, tamales, and tacos. This only scratches the surface of the broad spectrum of food that will be found here.

The beverages offered at the event don’t quite match the volume of the food, but there is still much to be found. If you want to enjoy some of the famed Wisconsin beer, there are both domestic and craft options and seltzers. And since this is a food-driven event, nothing pairs with food quite like wine. You can enjoy glasses or double pours of Elmaro wines from one of the most highly regarded Wisconsin vineyards. Taste of Madison also offers many non-alcoholic drinks, including still water, sparkling water, or canned sodas.

Taste of Madison features music performances as well. More than ten musicians will take to the stage throughout the weekend, including headliners Conner Smith and Ryan Griffin. The performances will cover a wide extent of music genres, from rock and jazz to country and blues. The Wisconsin State Capitol forms the backdrop for the performances, and it is the perfect venue for a great show.

Taste of Madison is an event that will bring thousands to the streets of Madison to experience the best of the Wisconsin food scene. With delicious drinks, tasty meals, and lively entertainment, Taste of Wisconsin is the ideal way to spend a Labor Day weekend.
