Take your home to the next level this summer with help from Miami’s finest interior design experts, who share their favorite trend of the season.
Book Matching Tones
“One of our favorite trends this summer is book matching stone,” said Todd Davis and Rob Brown, the design duo behind Brown Davis Interiors. “This image is of book matched onyx in the Foyer of a home we designed. We tend to use marbles, onyx and quartzite slabs to create this beautiful design. The installation acts as a wall of natural art. In this image, the green onyx is flanked by a pair of vintage Stilnovo sconces. The floors are white Thassos marble. I recently posted on instagram the installation of book matched stones on one of our projects. The video went viral with over 221,000 views.”
“One of our most coveted summer trends is bringing the outdoors inside!” said Guimar Urbina, of Guimar Urbina Interiors. “Plants are this season’s newest accessories and they add many benefits to interiors. Not only do they help keep the air clean, but they psychologically inspire happiness. We love to incorporate big statement leaves with natural finishes on furnishings such as woods. Our featured design for Miami’s Home Design and Remodeling Show mimicked an outdoor garden with custom columns, pebbles, modern tub and metallic accents for a chic touch.”
Bold Pops of Black
“Although we are known for using loads of color in our design work, black has been our go to color this year and throughout the summer – go figure!” said Nicole White from the award-winning and nationally published design firm, Nicole White Designs Interiors. “We’ve used it in various kitchens and bathrooms, and think it’s a trend we’ll be working with for the rest of the year because it just packs a major punch. It says, ‘I’m bold all by myself or I’m willing to share some of the limelight if you accessorize me well.’ We are pretty much obsessed and hope black is here to stay.”
