Q&A: Selling Luxury Real Estate with Mary Ann Shockley

What fuels your passion for real estate?

Mary Ann Shockley: My passion for real estate is fueled every time I see the face of a happy client. When I speak about luxury real estate, I not only speak about luxury homes, I speak about the value in luxury real estate services. I consider every client, whether buying a million dollar property or a studio condominium should receive the utmost level of service and attention. That is what I am most passionate about. 


What are the key trends happening now that you expect to have a large impact on Miami?

MS: Miami offers such diverse opportunities. One of the most telling trends is our transportation system. The lack of state tax is a major draw for prospective buyers. This, combined with the weather, will continue to draw home buyers to this incredible city. Also, the Brightline Train allows residents to travel all along the coast to visit, which leaves the driving to us!


What are some of the neighborhoods you’ve noticed experiencing more buyer demand and what do you think are the forces creating that?

MS: Doral is and has been one of the fastest growing cities in Florida. A place that was once intended for warehouses has now become a fine dining and exciting playground. The city is easily accessible (only 20 minutes from the airport), and is world-renowned for its golfing and resort lifestyle. Golf courses include The Blue Monster, The Golden Palm, The Red Tiger, and The Silver Fox!


Whether it’s due to listing price or unique circumstance, what is your most significant sale as of late?

MS:  had the amazing opportunity to sell a property to the most incredible Canadian golfing couple. This couple had traveled the world in search for the best golf courses. After visiting the most prestigious and beautiful golf courses in the world, they decided Trump National Golf Club Doral had the best courses along with the finest amenities! This made me even more passionate about selling real estate in this area and the reason why this is my most significant sale. 


What is your #1 piece of advice for someone looking to buy and/or sell their home?

MS: Whether you are buying or selling, find a trusted real estate advisor to take you through the process. There are many details to be considered and guidance is imperative. My expertise is there for you. 


What’s one unexpected thing that you’ve learned from your own experience as a realtor?

MS: One thing I’ve learned from my experience as a realtor is how much I truly care about the people I help. Whether we communicate from far away countries or next door, I am truly motivated to make their buying or selling experience on that they will always appreciate.
