The Tampa Bay area is one of the top regions in Florida for golfers, with attractive options and waterfront views.

Tampa is lined with suburbs that have excellent golf courses and clubs. Below, we’ll break down some of the best cities and towns in Tampa with excellent proximity to golfing options.

Bradenton is a picturesque suburb south of Tampa along the Manatee River. It has historic homes, a pleasant boardwalk, and top-notch museums and beaches. But one of Bradenton’s most significant characteristics is the premier golfing options.

There are high-quality courses and clubs in Bradenton, including the Legacy Golf Club, designed by golf icon Arnold Palmer. Private and public options include the Bradenton Country Club, Greens of Manatee Golf Course, and Heritage Harbor Golf Club. All told, there are 26 golf courses in Bradenton, giving residents an excellent variety of options.

Belleair

Belleair is a scenic little Florida community located west of Tampa. Home to a small population of around 4,000, Belleair is a quiet, affluent community with pristine beaches along the Gulf Coast. It is a residential community perfect for families and retirees seeking privacy and comfort and is a major destination for golfers.

There are many excellent golf courses around Belleair, including the renowned Belleair Country Club. This is one of the first courses in Florida, opening in 1897. Pelican Golf Club is another excellent option in Belleair. There are three courses in Belleair and dozens just outside the small town. It is a peaceful community with high-end options for its golf-loving residents.

Clearwater

Clearwater is a big city situated near Belleair. It is a significant part of the Tampa Bay area, home to more than 115,000 residents. Clearwater is a thriving city with gorgeous white-sand beaches and sunny weather throughout the year. The city is famed for its recreation, as it is a hub for surfing, boating, swimming, and sunbathing. It is also a dream setting to enjoy some golf.

Clearwater has a significant share of public and private courses. Ten golf courses are within the city limits, and dozens more are just outside. Riverview is a picturesque community east of Tampa, home to more than 107,000 residents. Even with a bigger population, Riverview has a safe and suburban feel, with many residents commuting to Tampa for work. However, the town still has luxurious amenities that include some of the best golf options in the area.

There are 39 golf courses within a 20-mile radius of Riverview, meaning you will have options any time you want to hit the links. Summerfield Crossings Golf Club is a public course offering a par-71 18-hole challenge. Bloomingdale Golfers Club is another excellent public 18-hole option. There are also nearby private courses like Buckhorn Springs Golf and Country Club and River Hills Country Club.
