In the thrilling world of sports, padel is on the rise and may even exceed pickleball’s well-established popularity. With more than 25 million players worldwide, you can expect the demand for this racket sport to keep growing.

While padel shares similarities with tennis, a distinctive rule allows padel players to make contact with the ball even after it has bounced from a fence or wall. As the sport’s popularity rises in the United States, housing developers are eager to get on board with this trend by incorporating padel courts for their residents.

Prominent developers across South Florida, including SoLé Mia, The Residences at Shell Bay, and Clara Homes, have recognized the potential of padel courts to enhance their residents’ experiences.

Tucked away in North Miami, the 184-acre master-planned community of SoLé Mia is poised for a $4 billion expansion this fall, becoming the first permanent site for Reserve Padel. Residents will not only have the opportunity to enjoy and learn about padel but also bond with their neighbors while playing the game. This development marks a major win that’s sure to increase overall awareness of the sport.

In Hallandale Beach, The Residences at Shell Bay has made a home for padel as well. In addition to offering a prestigious golf club, the first new golf club in the Miami area in decades, this 20-story condo also has multiple professional-grade padel courts. Among this exquisite enclave’s amenities, the padel courts are consistently in high demand. The Residences at Shell Bay may expand with even more padel courts soon.

Earlier this month, Profile Miami reported that Clara Homes, a Miami-based real estate firm, signed off on a $7.7 million deal to bring new luxury apartments capable of accommodating up to 154 people to 2601 NW 6th Avenue in Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood. Construction of these residential homes is set to begin within the next 12 to 15 months.

Upon completion, padel enthusiasts will have the privilege of playing on the very first sky-high padel court, located on the rooftop, an amenity inspired by padel’s worldwide rise in popularity. Judging from the sport’s expanding market, indications point to this sky-high court yielding a substantial return on investment. Residential homes on 2601 NW 6th Avenue are expected to become available for purchase in 2027 or 2028.
