French Normandy-style Estate Listed for $36 Million

A French Normandy-style Estate, previously owned by Barrie Chase, an actress and dance partner of Fred Astaire, is on the market for $36 million.

More recently, the property was owned by Edward Slatkin, the owner of Shutters on the Beach and Casa Del Mar, both luxury hotels in Santa Monica.

After Slatkin and his wife bought the property in the 1990s, they renovated several areas including: a new master wing, a chef’s kitchen and a two-story pool pavilion with vaulted-beam ceilings and a wet bar.

Located on 1.8-acres, the sprawling home has glass-and-iron doors, imported limestone and elaborate stone fireplaces. Additionally, it includes a dining room that leads to garden terraces and a glass conservatory.

The second floor has four en-suite bedrooms. The master bedroom has a private sitting area, a terrace and a double bathroom. It also includes a third story studio and attic. The outdoor features include gardens, a greenhouse, two guest cottages, garage parking for five cars and a personal gym.

The listing is shared by Sharona Alperin of Sotheby’s International Realty and Ron de Salvo of Coldwell Banker.
