We caught up with Emory to get the scoop on the trendiest and most glamorous places to dine in New York City.

Is there a cuisine in New York you enjoy the most?

Emory Stewart: I like all different types of cuisines; anything from American to Japanese to Italian. I’ve been really into Malaysian food lately, or any kind of Asian fusion. I love anything really as long as it’s unique and well done.

Are there any quintessential New York restaurants you’d recommend to first
time visitors?

ES: Yes, you definitely have to check out the Decorous Brasserie Augustine by Keith McNally and Temple Court by Tom Colicchio at the Beekman. They offer an amazing experience there; such amazing food and atmosphere. I also love Scarpetta in Nomad, it’s one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the city.

What’s the most mind-blowing dish you’ve experienced?

ES: One of the most mind blowing dishes I’ve ever experienced has to be the five course dinner tasting at Temple Court. I absolutely love the Porcini Casoncelli with black truffle, white asparagus and parmesan. The Snake River Farms Wagyu with summer squash and wild mushrooms is also so divine. Dining at the Beekman Hotel is one of the best culinary experiences in New York City.

Are there any common misconceptions out of towners have regarding the New York food scene?

ES: We have some of the best cuisines and restaurants here in New York City, so I don’t understand how anyone could have misconceptions. People come here from all over to try our cuisines and to experience the New York culinary scene at some of the best restaurants in the world.

What’s the most Instagram-worthy restaurant for someone looking to impress their friends?

ES: It has to be my friend Daniel Humm’s restaurant Eleven Madison Park, but good luck getting a reservation there. It is often recognized as one of the best restaurants in the world and being spotted there would definitely impress anybody.

Which restaurant offers the best ambiance?

ES: The restaurant that offers the best ambience I would say is Public Kitchen by renowned chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. The restaurant and its menu are focused on sustainable seafood, organic poultry and grass-fed meats, as well as using the freshest green market fruits and vegetables. The restaurant is located in Public Hotel by Ian Schrager and recently opened their garden area which is so scenic, you don’t feel like you’re in New York City; you feel like you’re in the Garden of Eden with amazing florals, candles, lanterns and overall good vibes.

Which neighborhood do you enjoy dining in most?

ES: I definitely enjoy dining anywhere downtown, as I’m a downtown resident. Some of my favorite places to dine are Tribeca, SoHo, NoHo, The Lower East Side, and Greenwich Village. I prefer downtown more so than uptown because I like to see trees and experience more of an edgier atmosphere with other fellow creatives.

Is there a signature New York dish in your opinion?

ES: I’m always on a diet, so I personally can’t eat this, but it has to be a classic slice of pizza. New York Pizza Suprema is one of the best places for a classic New York slice.
