Maryland’s best kept secret, Annapolis, has a long history of popularity among D.C. residents wanting to escape the mayhem of the city. With incredible water views, marinas, shopping and restaurants, it’s a no-brainer why people are flocking to this small city. We sat down with Betsy Dunigan, realtor at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, with over 30 years experience in the Annapolis area to get the inside scoop on the city and 2 Eastern Avenue, one of the hottest homes on the market.
What were the most significant renovations made to the Eastern Avenue property?
The homeowners used a designer out of Delaware who was phenomenal. In fact, he’s built and designed several of their homes. When they bought it, the whole interior of this townhome was gutted and redone. Flooded with light, there are four levels in the townhome which includes a lower level, main level, masters suite, guest suite, and fourth floor. A total of four bedrooms and four full baths.
The sellers also strategically placed custom floor-to-ceiling mirrors that reflect the busy harbor scene from wherever one sits on the main level. Other major renovations are whitewashed oak floors, Etiamoe quartered wood custom kitchen cabinetry, a Starfire glass knee wall surrounding the dining area, and a custom nautical staircase with dark ebony handrails and steel wire railing. This is a custom coastal property with extremely high end finishes, very chic, and completely designed around the views.
What was the inspiration for the interior design?
The sellers’ lifestyle is reflected in the fine, high-end finishes used to enhance the amazing views.
What are some key selling points and differentiators for this listing?
To begin with, it’s a private, gated community with the ability to walk to everything that East Port offers. Horn Point is centered at the confluence of Back Creek and the Severn River. East Port is the maritime district with yacht clubs, marinas, restaurants, and shops at hand. With everything in walking distance, you never need to drive your car anywhere.
What are the homeowner's favorite aspects of the home?
The homeowners lead a very active lifestyle. They wanted a “lock-and-leave” to enjoy on the weekends or months at a time. Annapolis is an easy commute for friends and family
from New York to Virginia. The lower level IPE provides ample space for personal water crafts as well as easy access to the waterfront pool.
What are some of the benefits to living in this area?
This end unit townhome offers the “best seat in the house” to view the seasonal events Annapolis Harbor has to offer. Watch the Blue Angels perform during commencement week, Fourth of July fireworks, the local yacht club races, the summer youth OPTI programs, the children’s pirate boats and the windjammer cruises, the winter FROSTBITERS and the Christmas boat parade of lights. There’s no other place on the waterfront market where you’re going to see this kind of activity and the nighttime lights at the academy can’t be beat.
