Portland is one of the most culturally vibrant cities in the country, a place filled with music and art. While numerous areas across the city serve as artistic hubs, one of the best known is the Pearl District. The Pearl District is a trendy shopping, dining, and culture center that boasts some of the top galleries in the city. It is also the site of one of Portland’s best-known annual art events: the Art in the Pearl Festival.

The Art in the Pearl Festival has consistently ranked among the biggest and best art festivals in the region. It has been named one of the country’s ten best arts and crafts festivals by the Art Fair Source Book, and the presence of top local and national creators gives it tremendous energy.

This year’s Art in the Pearl Festival will take place on Labor Day Weekend, from September 3rd-5th. It will be outside at the Northwest Portland Park blocks of the city, where thousands of art enthusiasts will fill the streets. The artists present will have their own booths, where they’ll showcase their latest and greatest creations, and attendees will get to browse and shop from these uniquely talented creators.

You’ll find something to enjoy at this festival regardless of which artistic genre you prefer. The artists attending will be presenting their works in a vast range of different artistic categories. There will be sculptures and pottery, jewelry and handmade clothes, paintings and photographs, and everything in between. More than 100 artists will be selling their work, so bring your wallet and prepare to find that perfect new piece for your home.

The Art in the Pearl Festival will also provide excellent entertainment for attendees. Seeing the finished product is great, but watching talented artists actually create is an altogether more exciting experience. Several artistic demonstrations throughout the festival will highlight the unique talents of the artists present. There’ll be live sculpting, metal-working, handweaving, and more. These demonstrations will show the audience the incredible work and skill that goes into each piece of art they see.

This exciting weekend-long event is also great for the young art lovers of Portland. Several artists and volunteers will run hands-on activities for children and adults in the Education Pavillion. Bring the kids, and try your hands at creating your own masterpieces with engaging activities that enable creation in several different artistic genres.
