The Ann Arbor Art Fair is one of the nation’s most celebrated outdoor art exhibitions, transforming the streets of downtown Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan campus into a sprawling 30-block outdoor gallery each July.
Celebrating its 65th year from July 17–19, 2025, the fair has grown into a sophisticated showcase that attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.
What sets the Ann Arbor Art Fair apart is its unique three-fair structure, with three independently juried nonprofit events operating simultaneously across the city. These include the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair (The Original), the Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair managed by the Guild of Artists & Artisans, and the State Street Area Art Fair. Together, they create a vibrant artistic ecosystem that offers an extraordinary diversity of creative expression, from emerging local talent to internationally recognized masters — all held to rigorous juried standards to ensure exceptional quality.
Beyond its reputation as a top national art festival, the fair draws collectors, gallery owners, and art enthusiasts from across the country who seek original, handcrafted works rather than mass-produced items, reinforcing its standing among serious art collectors and connoisseurs.
Visitors can enjoy not only the art but also a rich lineup of live music at multiple stages throughout downtown, engaging live art demonstrations like glassblowing and pottery, and interactive family-friendly activities such as “Chalk the Walk.” The Youth Art Fair provides a platform for young artists in grades 4–12 to showcase and sell their own work.
Admission to the Ann Arbor Art Fair remains free, reflecting the community’s commitment to making exceptional art accessible to all.
