Palm Beach is one of the top destinations in the state for boating due to the region’s immense natural beauty. Below are some popular hubs for boaters within the Palm Beach area.

Peanut Island is a favorite of residents and is always bustling with visitors on the weekend. This 80-acre tropical island, located in the middle of the Port of Palm Beach, offers scenic beaches and amazing areas to explore, including an old bomb shelter and a Coast Guard station.

Ocean Inlet Park is a slightly longer trip from Palm Beach, but well worth the visit. This is a gorgeous public park that provides sandy beaches, crowds of visitors, and excellent saltwater fishing.

Important Boating Rules

There are many standard laws boaters must follow. All motor-powered boats must be registered, and registration cards must be on hand. Boaters must be 14 or older to operate a personal watercraft, and people born after 1988 must complete a boater’s safety course before operating a vehicle of ten horsepower or more.

Palm Beach is also a popular fishing locale due to its incredible marine life. Each person fishing on a vessel must have a fishing license, unless they are on a charter. Licenses are easy to procure, but this rule is one that the Florida government is willing and able to enforce. There are specific rules governing which fish can be kept and which are prohibited species, so brushing up on the list of prohibited species is highly recommended.
