The American leg of Art Basel will bring 269 leading galleries from around the world to Miami Beach from December 1-4, 2016. The show will display significant works from the masters of modern and contemporary art, as well a new generation of emerging stars. Paintings, sculptures, photographs, and films will be shown all around Miami Beach and at nearby hotels and parks.
Since 1970, Art Basel has served as a hub for the world’s premiere galleries and their patrons, and functioned as a connection point for the international art world. For over 40 years, its three fairs in Basel, Hong Kong, and Miami Beach have offered visitors the chance to experience the most important art from around the world. Art Basel also coincides with Miami Art Week, bringing dozens of fairs and festivals to area.
Where art goes, a fashionable crowd follows. Designers, retailers, artists, and editors will be throwing parties at venues and rooftops all along South Beach and throughout the Design District. Even if visitors’ only goal is sight-seeing and people-watching, there is sure to be something for everyone.
Stroll through the parks and beaches for public installations during the day, and at night take in some velvet rope revelry at one of the area’s premium nightclubs or pop-up soirees.
